There are many different types of glue pots. They differ in their configuration (top-mounted or bottom-mounted), can be removable or fixed, and also vary in volume. Despite these structural differences, all glue pots perform the same function: melting the adhesive and transferring it to the glue application roller. This is a critical stage of the process, as it directly affects glue consumption and the final product quality.

The glue application unit is considered one of the most important components in the structure of an edgebanding machine. Its correct adjustment and operation directly affect the overall result of the production process. Even if other parameters, such as edge trimming or scraping, are performed perfectly, insufficient bonding quality significantly reduces the overall quality of the product.

Over time, due to continuous operation, adhesive residues accumulate in the glue channels of the pot, which negatively affects productivity and bonding quality. Many users often ignore this process until the glue application system fails. To prevent malfunctions and ensure a long service life of the machine, it is necessary to regularly clean the glue pot from adhesive residues. This process can be carried out either without dismantling the unit using specialized granular cleaning agents, or after removing the glue pot for soaking and removing hardened deposits. Such a procedure may take up to 24 hours.
In addition to regular maintenance, cleaning of the glue pot is necessary when changing the type or color of adhesive. The absence of an additional glue pot in production leads to machinery downtime, which in turn causes production stoppages and financial losses.
To prevent such downtime and reduce potential costs, it is recommended to provide a spare glue pot in advance. Having a reserve pot significantly reduces machine downtime. This ensures continuity of the production process, as while one pot undergoes maintenance, the other continues operating. This approach helps maintain stable product quality and ensures uninterrupted production cycles.
A large number of edgebanding machines produced by KDT Machinery are equipped with a top quick-change glue pot. Thanks to the standardization of its design, this pot can be easily transferred from one machine to another. Such a design significantly increases production flexibility, as it allows for fast replacement of glue pots between machines, minimizing downtime for maintenance. This not only optimizes working cycles but also ensures continuous production. In addition, having an extra top quick-change glue pot simplifies maintenance of glue systems on other machines, helping to further reduce production stoppages.

As an option, we offer the vacuum station for cleaning and storing glue units KDT 88S. It is required for servicing and cleaning, preheating, and vacuum storage of glue units.
Its functions include:
- Heating function. This is especially useful if you have several glue pots and work with different colors and types of adhesive. The station maintains the working temperature of the glue and the operating parameters of the glue pot. This allows for quick changes of glue type or color without the need to reheat the adhesive, which positively affects the quality of the glue joint by reducing the impact of heating and cooling cycles on the adhesive.
- Glue cleaning. Used for cleaning glue pots from adhesive residues with the help of special cleaning agents and glue neutralizers. Thanks to a special pressure plate, cleaning of the roller from remaining glue is carried out efficiently and thoroughly.
- Vacuum storage. The use of a vacuum chamber for storage extends the lifecycle of PUR glue and helps prevent operational issues with machine components.
Due to these functions, the KDT 88S vacuum cleaning and storage station has become essential in most production facilities that perform edgebanding.
